Encouraging young people to think about the future: On May 31st and June 1st, ept plants at Buching and Peiting, Germany, each held an Apprenticeship Day.

On Friday, March 31st in Buching and Saturday, June 1st in Peiting, Germany,
ept invited both young people and adults to take a closer look at nine different apprenticeship options. Apprenticeship Day, which took place at both ept plants in Buching and in Peiting for the first time this year, saw ept apprentices talk about their respective apprenticeship careers and help visitors build their own digital watch, among other things. As a result, children and parents alike learned about the key areas in the following apprenticeships: surface coater, process mechanic for plastics and rubber technology, toolmaker, mechatronic technician, technical production designer, storage logistics specialists, IT specialist for system integration, and industrial management assistant.
The dual study program was also on display. Students taking part in the program as well as students studying mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, mechatronics, and computer science with in-depth practical experience on their course were on hand to provide information at a stand dedicated to the program.
Guests were allowed to be hands-on and try out everything, meaning technology fanatics could marvel at how a 3D printer works or test out a pinball machine built in-house, while prospective surface coaters analyzed the pH values of cola, water, and orange juice. The ept cinema screened videos about the nine apprenticeships, with each video lasting around two minutes and providing guests with a glimpse into the atmosphere, content, and process of the respective apprenticeship. And of course, the apprentices were on hand to answer any questions the visitors had throughout the day. “We are pleased with the wonderful turnout today and the motivation of our apprentices; they spoke about their education here with great enthusiasm,” said ept instructor Barbara Deininger.

ept welcomed a total of 160 guests on this incarnation of Apprentice Day, which aims to encourage young people to take up one of the nine different apprenticeship paths, and marks the third occasion that ept has opened its doors for such an event. 115 apprentices are currently receiving training at ept. A nother 38 apprentices and students on dual study programs will start at ept on 1 September 2019. If you didn’t have time to visit ept at the weekend, you can always find out more at www.ept-connectors.com/Training. Trial internships are also another option to help you get to know your desired profession a little better. Applications for 2020 are open until  August 31st 2019 and can be sent in by post or e-mail (personal(at)ept.de).
